Week one is now behind us and it was a great one! I am so excited to see that our class is beginning to come together with a very positive energy and team mindset. We will be working in collaborative groups, large and small, all year. Our three learning targets this past week were: 1. Understand the necessary components for effective teamwork 2. Understand our individual learning styles 3. Know each other's names and a little about each other. Team 4W participated in a series of team challenges designed to build awareness about the importance of communication and cooperation. Students had many opportunities to work with and get to know their classmates. We have a lot of energy in our room! As we continue on our learning journey this year, students will be guided to reflect on their learning progress. Each week, learning targets will be posted in each subject area. This will assist students in understanding our learning goals and will help guide them with their reflection. Ask your child to share these learning targets with you! Next week, I will continue to slowly introduce assignments, tools, and processes that will be a part of our 4th grade year. Kidblog, Reader's Response, Word Lockers, and Thinking Tracks will be our focus for next week.

Hello! I'm so excited to meet my new students and their families! I wanted to take a moment to share a little about myself before the new school year begins. This will be my 16th year teaching little folks and I love my work. I can't imagine a more satisfying or challenging career. I love to learn, laugh, and have fun...the classroom is never short of opportunities for all three. I am married to Chad and we have a crazy bulldog named Sanford. We play a lot of golf and enjoy spending time with our friends and family. I have always loved creative endeavors of all sorts. Photography is a hobby I began about 5 years ago and I enjoy capturing images of my students in action. My family has had its fill however, as I have been referred to as "the paparazzi." My favorite teacher was my high school English teacher, Mrs. Drake. I can't tell you specifically what I learned so long ago, but I remember very clearly how she made me feel. She was bold, funny, charismatic, and she accepted all the differences among her students. I always felt capable, smart, and interesting in her presence. From my perspective, she believed in us all which made going to her class an uplifting and positive experience. I'm looking forward to getting to know my students and learning about what makes each of them different and special. Together, I believe we will learn a lot from each other! That's enough about me. Can't wait to know YOU! |
